Technical Expertise & Training

Elias Theodorakopoulos was born in Athens in 1979. After graduating from the 2nd General High School of Corinth, he was admitted to the Department of Civil Engineering at the Democritus University of Thrace in 1998.

In 2003, he graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering with a final grade of 7.1/10 (very good) and continued his studies in the postgraduate program “Hydraulic Engineering”, specializing in “Water Resources Management Projects”. He successfully completed the program with a grade of 8.8/10 (excellent)

He received an award from the Technical Chamber of Greece (TCG), including a monetary prize and an honorary distinction, as one of the highest-achieving graduates of the Department of Civil Engineering at the Democritus University of Thrace. He was also recognized by the State Scholarship Foundation (IKY) as the top-ranked postgraduate student during the academic year 2003–2004.

He completed his diploma thesis entitled “Application of a Complex Sediment Transport Model in the Thrace Watershed”, which was evaluated by a three-member academic committee and awarded the highest grade of 10/10. His postgraduate thesis, entitled “Estimation of Sediment Yield for an Extreme Flood Event”, was also awarded the highest distinction. The study was recognized as a reference scientific work at undergraduate level and was successfully presented at the 6th International Conference of the European Water Resources Association in Menton, France, in September 2005. It was subsequently published in the scientific journal “Hydrotechnika” of the Hellenic Association for Water Resources and Hydraulic Engineering (EYE) in December 2006.

During his academic studies, he gained professional experience at the Development and Construction Company of the Municipality of Corinth and at the Democritus University of Thrace, through the “Undergraduate Studies Enhancement” program. He also worked at a technical engineering office, contributing to the preparation of various engineering studies.

He served in the Hellenic Air Force as a Reserve Officer Candidate, holding the rank of Airman. During his service, he prepared a design study for the development of an outdoor vehicle parking area and created a database for the daily management of military personnel. In recognition of his contribution, he was awarded an honorary leave and a certificate of commendation by the unit commander.
